Welcome to the new and improved caata.net! Headed into our 6th national ConFest this year, we’re excited to unveil this new permanent (digital) home for our content and thriving community… that’s you!
We’ve re-envisioned the website as a central gathering place for the Asian American theater community: a space to swap ideas and crucial resources, keep up with news from the field, highlight regional performances and CAATA-affiliated companies, and get the inside scoop on ConFest.
Check it out and let us know what you think – more updates and features will roll out in the coming months.
Save the Date for ConFest 2018: Chicago
As the CAATA Board President, I am so proud of the work being done by the Steering Committee and the Board to bring ConFest to Chicago this August 13-18. An early shoutout to our host theater Victory Gardens and partners: DePaul University, Columbia College and Silk Road Rising.
The proposals already submitted for performances, play readings, and conference sessions have been inspiring and beautifully diverse. It is clear that Pan Asian and Pacific Islander American theater artists and practitioners are leading the field in all aspects of theater making and we can’t wait for them to have a national audience.
This ConFest, CAATA is not only interested in bringing the Pan Asian and Pacific Islander American theater communities together, but also deepening our ally and movement-building with other theater communities of color. This is a key element to
ensuring a truly healthy cultural ecology.
I’m especially eager to celebrate the Pan Asian and Pacific Islander American artists, theaters and theater makers who are thriving in Chicago and exploring the many awesome treasures that this amazing city contains. It’s an exciting time for Asian American theater and ConFest always feels like a family reunion were we come together to celebrate our Revolutionary Acts. I’m looking forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new members of the family this August.
Watch this space for announcements about this year’s ConFest theme and programming – earlybird passes go on sale May 15.
