Ashley Yung

I am a lighting designer and arts administrator. I am currently the Performance Program Manager at Pao Arts Center, where I curate performances for the Boston Chinatown Community. I am passionate about nurturing the voices of emerging artists, and being born in Boston and raised by the Chinatown community, I am especially passionate about connecting arts and storytelling to community wellbeing.

As a lighting designer, I have worked with companies such as CHUANG Stage, Also Known As (AKA) Theatre, Praxis Stage, Emerson Stage, and Theater Barn. I aim to create gentle, effective designs that tell a story. My work is rooted in telling diverse stories from my community and from experiences of everyone around me. I truly believe in the collaborative nature of theatre, and that with communication and teamwork, we can not only create beautiful art, but also a more beautiful and empowering world. I value inclusive, equitable theatre and I approach my design work with kindness and synergy with my collaborators. I have my BFA in Theatre Design and Technology from Emerson College.
