Claro is an actor, playwright, educator, and a social practice theatre artist.  As an actor he has performed with NY theater companies that include NAATCO, Pan Asian Rep, Leviathan Lab, and International WOW. As a theatre maker he has had the honor of making theatre alongside community members in NYC, the Philippines, and Rwanda. Additionally, Claro has served as a lead arts-based educator at Apollo Theatre Education, CUNY CAT, and the Two River Theater Co. Recent accomplishments include: 2015 commissioned artist for the Laundromat Projects Create Change program; 2016-17 National Artists Strategies Creative Community Fellow; and 2017 Brooklyn Arts Exchange Space Grant Recipient. Claro is developing a new full length play as a commissioned playwright for Epic Theatre Ensemble. 

Claro is also the founder and director of the NY-based Atlantic Pacific Theatre, a theater company that creates theatre works, community programs, and social practice art experiences towards cultural equity for and with the Asian Pacific Islander (API) diaspora community, transnational communities of color and beyond. Through partnership-driven projects, the company aims to enhance the public’s understanding, empathy, and awareness of API and POC identities in local and transnational contexts. The company's underpinning values of cross cultural exchange and pluralism center its theatre works around polycultural narratives between communities of color across geographical borders. www.atlanticpacifictheatre.org
