Emil Guillermo
I am a journalist, writer, performing artist, and humorist. I guess I am an actor. But I play myself. So I'm more of a storyteller. I have written personal essays and columns about Asian Americans, race, and politics since 1995 in newspapers around the country. My book, "Amok: Essays From an Asian American Perspective" won an American Book Award in 2000. My columns are now at http://www.aaldef.org/blog. Since 2017 I have adapted my columns for the stage in my "Amok Monologues." I have performed 3 iterations at Fringe Festivals in San Diego, Baltimore, Orlando, and Washington, D.C. I host two podcasts, "Emil Amok's Takeout." And I host The PETA Podcast for the world's leading animal rights organization.
