Ishika Muchhal

Ishika Muchhal is an actor, singer, dancer, writer, and activist based in Los Angeles. Pursuing her BFA in Acting at CalArts, she strives to use the arts and advocacy to highlight and fix social justice issues, decolonize storytelling, increase representation, and create new work from an intersectional lens. She has trained in acting since age 9, dancing since 2005 (Bharatanatyam Indian classical dance - 13 years, hip-hop, Bollywood, fusion, jazz, choreography), and singing since 2007 (Western classical, Hindustani classical, musical theater, pop/rock, R&B). Ever the collaborator, some highlights thus far have been performing two shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, interning at East West Players, performing at A Noise Within, short films with CalArts and Chapman, and her senior solo dance recital - Arangetram - in 2018. Ishika also hosts a show called A QISSAA with Ishika: Quintessential and Inspiring Stories of South Asian Artists, where she interviews and shares the journeys of South Asian trailblazers in the arts. She has been heavily involved in politics through campaigning, advocacy, grassroots organizing, and the National Women's Political Caucus. Ishika has also published written work in the categories of PR, journalism, creative writing, and poetry.
