Kayla Kim Votapek

Kayla Kim Votapek (She/Her/Hers) is a Korean Adoptee whose upbringing includes a multiracial experience. I am an Anti-Racist Facilitator and Creative Producer who specializes in Anti-Racism work through the lens of Intersectionality. I am currently using the power of storytelling to educate individuals on race, mental health, intersectionality, multiracial identities, and mixed families (i.e.: adoption, multi-generation, multiracial parents, interracial relationships, upbringing, etc.)⠀

As an Anti-Racist Facilitator, I lead all of my workshops using my ethos as my guide. My Anti-Racist Theatre Ethos is to be aware that racism is embedded in our society and to use my power to educate, prevent harm, and encourage healing that moves us towards liberation.⠀

As a Creative Producer, I believe in the practice of decolonizing what Art has historically meant. I am challenging the standards and the stigma of Art by allowing individuals to imagine a diverse range of activities that express conceptual ideas, technical skills, and individuals' stories intended to be appreciated for their emotional power and aesthetic. I am encouraging and producing work that finds artistic and innovative ways to use the power of storytelling to bring to light untold stories.⠀

My perspective is through the lens of Intersectionality and Multiculturalism. Being a Korean Adoptee has allowed me the privilege to be in both white spaces and people of the global majority spaces. I am using currently my power to lead my spaces with Stories, Questions, Reflection, and History!⠀
