CAATA Day at Ma-Yi Theatre Company’s FELIX STARRO

Join Consortium of Asian American Theaters & Artists (CAATA) for a special networking event and performance of Ma-Yi Theater Company‘s new musical FELIX STARRO by Jessica Hagedorn and Fabian Obispo, based on the story by Lesley Tenorio: the first Filipino American Musical to hit Off-Broadway!

$55 tickets will include a pre-show Mimosa or Bloody Mary at The Brazen Tavern at 12:30PM and tickets to the 2PM matinee of FELIX STARRO at Theatre Row, featuring an exclusive post-show panel discussion with the creators. Scheduled to appear: Jessica Hagedorn, Lesley Tenorio, director Ralph B. Peña, and cast members Diane Phelan, Caitlin Cisco, Alan Ariano, Nacho Tambunting, and more, with discussion leaders from On Stage Blog, including We’re Not All Ninjas- the Podcast‘s Melissa Slaughter and Hapa Mag‘s Alex Chester-Blank.

ABOUT FELIX STARRO

Felix Starro is a new musical about a Filipino Faith Healer peddling hope to sick people in San Francisco’sTenderloin District. Felix Starro is a famous faith healer in the Philippines whose clients included celebrities and big politicians. After falling on hard times, Felix decides to go to San Francisco with his young grandson to set-up shop for ailing Filipinos in the Bay Area- to earn just enough money to go home and retire comfortably. Unbeknownst to Felix, his grandson Junior has plans of his own to leave his grandfather and take his chances as an undocumented immigrant What happens to them is a story about faith, immigration, and the unique Filipino experience in America.
