Shaunte Keakalani Caraballo
Shaunte' Keakalani Caraballo is an Assistant professor, Speech Coordinator, and Speech & Debate Coach, in the Department of Theatre & Dance at CSU Dominguez Hills. She received her BA in Communication Arts with an emphasis in Speech and Theatre at California Baptist University and her MFA in Acting from CSU Long Beach.
She holds two National Christian College Forensics Invitational titles and was a finalist in many other events. She was the Director of Forensics at Tennessee State University, where her team won numerous awards at the Tennessee State championship tournament and National Forensics Association national tournaments including first place in the President’s III category.
She was a coach of the national champion Irvine Valley College Speech and Debate team. This year, she took a team of students to the National Speech & Debate Association’s national tournament where five students made it to Quarter Finals, three students made it to semi-finals, and two students made it to finals and placed in the top six. She is an actress, a spoken-word artist and has been a hula dancer with Hula Halau Na Meakanu O Laka O Hawaii for the last 13 years.
She enjoys creating works with multiple mediums and combining spoken word with dance and specifically hula.
